Established in December 2001, the Post-doctoral Scientific Research Workstation of Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) is the exchange’s research platform and training center of high-end professionals. The station was awarded the title of “Model Working Group of Shanghai 2001-2003” and “Excellent Post-doctoral Scientific Research Workstation of Shanghai”, and “Excellent Post-doctoral Scientific Research Workstation of Pudong New Area” in 2010. Most of the 57 trained post-doctoral researchers are now playing key roles in financial institutions, such as the exchanges, banks, securities companies, colleges, index companies and asset management companies. To accommodate the Exchange’s business development needs, the research station is recruiting post-doctoral researchers home and abroad.

Research Topics:
The Post-Doctoral Program of Shanghai Futures Exchange is seeking Post-Doctoral Fellows having strong analytical skills and academic knowledge in finance and economics. Within a two-year full-time engagement, the fellows should focus on one of the following research topics:
1) Feasibility of setting up overseas delivery points by exchanges under the background of the opening-up of the Chinese futures market;
2) New products development and design (weather indices, coffee, petrochemicals, electricity, etc.);
3) Establishment of a national carbon emission right trading market;
4) Traders’ behavioral patterns and market functions of the Chinese crude oil futures market;
5) The legal basis and responsibility boundaries of central counterparties;
6) The applications of cloud computing technologies for futures brokers;
7) Combination orders and combination margin systems of options trading;
8) The integration of OTC markets and exchange markets’ clearing mechanisms;
9) The regulatory system of algorism trading;
10) The risk management system under the background of internationalization of futures markets.
Applicants must have completed or be expected to complete, a doctoral degree before enrolling in the program. Preference will be given to candidates having excellent research skills, related experience and knowledge in these fields, as well as good understanding of Chinese futures market.
